Continental’s best-selling tubular just got better with Black Chili Compound. The new material incorporates rubber compound particles as small as 10nm in diameter (otherwise known as 0.00000001m, or really, really, really tiny), roughly ten times smaller than what is typically used. Continental claims that Black Chili delivers the ultimate combination of tire characteristics: the smaller particles yield more points of contact with the road surface (offering enhanced grip), are more tightly bound to each other (reducing wear), and the resultant structure is more flexible (lowering rolling resistance).
The Sprinter is light enough for serious racing and strong and durable enough to use as a training tire. Three layers of polyamide (Kevlar) casing deliver excellent puncture protection under a long-lasting textured tread. Max inflation pressure of 12 bar/170 psi. Manufactured in Germany. 700c x 22mm (22-622), 700c x 25mm (25-622), and 650c x 22 (22-571) sizes.
The product weight specified is an approximate weight based on the manufacturer’s specifications (if available) or our measurement of one or two examples. For most products, the weight will typically vary by 5% to 10%.
